Uma Racing 101: All you NEED to know about SPARK PLUGS !!

UMA RACING 101 : InfoTech
101: Understanding the spark plug !
“R” written on the spark plug are called RESISTOR spark plug with 9.5 k ohm resistor which suppresses / reduces ignition noise generated during sparking
-These “R” types of spark plug strongly recommended by all spark plug manufacturers in ANY VEHICLE that uses an inboard computerize system) or simple words FUEL INJECTION
**Because it REDUCES electromagnetic interference with electromagnetic devices.
SIDE EFFECTS OF A NON RESISTOR SPARK PLUG in a computerized onboard vehicle /INJECTION)
1) ERRATIC ( irregular) IDLING
2) High RPM misfire
3) Engine run-on( damage )
4) Power drop at certain RPM
5) Abnormal combustion
HOW TO DIAGNOSE A SPARK PLUG ??
How to actually tell between a “good” and a “bad” spark plug??
One of the most effective ways is to notice the COLOR
1) Brown or light grey
Indicates: Good and functioning optimally
2) Blackish wet
Indicates: Rich condition / incompatible plug / low compression / retarded timing / plug gap is too large
3) Insulator tip glazed / glossy
Inducates: OVERHEATING
Thats all for now !! Next week we will be talking about the 02 sensor !

UMA RACING 101 INFOTECH ! WHERE WE EDUCATE YOU ABOUT OUR PRODUCTS ! LESSON 1: DO NOT BYPASS RADIATOR FAN SWITCH FOR IT WILL FLUCTUATE VOLTAGE OF CDI CAUSING DAMAGEED!!

Uma Racing 101 InfoTech !!

101: AVODING DAMAGED STARTER MOTOR AND CDI
101: Do not bypass the radiator fan switch( PICTURE 2) because it will fluctuate( unstable / decrease) electricity of the CDI during the first start up which may cause DAMAGED CDI !
**Normal voltage during 1st start up= minimum 11.2 ( production bike).Bypassing the fan switch will cause INSUFFICIENT current on to the CDI.
( NOTE THE DIFFERENCE IN VOLTAGE PICTURE 3 AND 4)
**ALTERNATIVE TO ENHANCE COOLING SYSTEM OF THE MOTORYCYLE**
= Instead of bypassing the fan switch , you can REMOVE the thermostat valve( PICTURE 5)
THIS IS NOT APPLICABLE IF YOU ARE USING A RACING BIKE/KICK START MOTORCYCLE

Browse through each picture for detail descriptions
The Bahasa Malaysia version will be uploaded next monday:)

As you can see on the Title of the video that says it all.

What are the components used to achieve that high an Horse Power ??

Well, we will go through one by one of the components used but on this post we will cover:

UMA RACING IMC DIGITAL CDI

With nowadays in the competitive market there are many CDI's ( Capasitor Discharge Ignition ) used for underbone bikes .

Back to basics, what is actually a CDI? What does it do??

In simple language, it uses capasitor discharge current output to fire the spark plugs to make the ignition system more suitable for high speeds and pick up.

Some CDI's have a single maps some multiple maps. It differs from company to company.

But today we will let you know about our UMA RACING CDI.

This is the box of the CDI.

What is in the box:

1) The CDI itself
2) CDI controller
3) Rubber holder when you install on the standard bike
4) A few cable ties to fastened
5) Uma Racing sticker.

This model of  CDI are for :

Yamaha models:
 -LC135 ( Spark 135/ Sniper MX / Exciter
-Nouvo
-SRL 115 / Spark / Crypton / Jupiter

Honda Models:

Wave 110 and Wave 125.

*The models made for this CDI I have already posted in the recent post.

THE HIGHLIGHTS OF THIS CDI IS THE ALLOCATED 4 MAPS.

We will show you WHEN TO USE THIS 4 MAPS,

MAP 1:

* MAP 1 is suitable for STANDARD FACTORY bikes. Without any modifications.

What will happen if your a standard bike but try to use Map 4??-----------In along haul your engine temperature will increase due to the high ignition timing causing knocking and at last a damaged engine

MAP 2:

* MAP 2  are suitable for STAGE 1 modified bikes
What is in the stage 1 modification list?:

Stage 1: Carburetor (Bigger ones) + High Cam + Slip on Exhaust
*If you use any of these modifications or all of these modifications then feel free to use MAP 2

MAP 3:

  * MAP 3  are suitable for STAGE 2 modified bikes
What is in the stage 2 modification list?:

Stage 2: “ Stage 1 modifications “ + Big bore (Block) + High compression piston

MAP 4:

    * MAP 4  are suitable for STAGE 3 modified bikes
What is in the stage 3 modification list?:

  Stage 3: “ Stage 2 modifications “ + Superhead

If you viewers notice :

That the main difference between the maps are from LOW to MID RPM
We can conclude that the CDI primarily affects and is best efficient at these sections of RPM.
