UMA RACING 101 : InfoTech
101: Understanding the spark plug !
“R” written on the spark plug are called RESISTOR spark plug with 9.5 k ohm resistor which suppresses / reduces ignition noise generated during sparking
-These “R” types of spark plug strongly recommended by all spark plug manufacturers in ANY VEHICLE that uses an inboard computerize system) or simple words FUEL INJECTION
**Because it REDUCES electromagnetic interference with electromagnetic devices.

SIDE EFFECTS OF A NON RESISTOR SPARK PLUG in a computerized onboard vehicle /INJECTION)
1) ERRATIC ( irregular) IDLING
2) High RPM misfire
3) Engine run-on( damage )
4) Power drop at certain RPM
5) Abnormal combustion

HOW TO DIAGNOSE A SPARK PLUG ??
How to actually tell between a “good” and a “bad” spark plug??
One of the most effective ways is to notice the COLOR

One of the most effective ways is to notice the COLOR
1) Brown or light grey
Indicates: Good and functioning optimally
Indicates: Good and functioning optimally
2) Blackish wet
Indicates: Rich condition / incompatible plug / low compression / retarded timing / plug gap is too large

Thats all for now !! Next week we will be talking about the 02 sensor !
